In order to participate in the youth Private Swim Lessons (PSL) program, prior or concurrent enrollment in one of the following programs is required:
Whether your child is jumping into the pool for the first time or has completed one of our other camps, we have highly qualified swim trainers ready to work with you. Our trainers will help your child maximize their full potential with focused instruction designed to improve your technique, stamina, and confidence in the water. Sessions occur during rec swim. Please see the building schedule for times.

Step 1: First, please read our Program Policies (below) regarding Lateness, Expiration Dates, and Refunds.
Step 2: EMAIL our Swim Lesson Coordinator, Kara at firstname.lastname@example.org (link sends e-mail) to submit a private swimming lesson registration request.
*If you submit your request on a weekend or University holiday, please wait for the following business day for your request to be handled.
Step 3: Upon receipt of registration, our Swim Lesson Coordinator will connect you with your child’s assigned trainer.
Step 4: Purchase your sessions by check, cash, or credit card between 9am and 5pm, M-F in room 336, by calling (212) 854-3439, or online. All payments must be made out to Columbia University. Paying a trainer directly is PROHIBITED.
Step 5: Following payment, you may begin scheduling sessions directly with your child’s instructor.
Ensure your Dodge Fitness Center membership status is current. Non-members are not eligible to participate in DFC PSL and may not solicit our trainers for non-DFC PSL.
Children of DFC members must be included on the family membership to be eligible for PSL. Please visit the Membership page for more information.

All sessions must be paid for in full prior to the start of training. Free trial sessions are not offered.
Sessions can be paid for by check, cash or credit card between 9am and 5pm, M-F in room 336 or by calling (212) 854-3439.
In-home or off-campus sessions are not offered.
Outside trainers are NOT PERMITTED to conduct formal fitness instruction at the DFC. Only individuals currently employed by the DFC Personal Training Program may conduct personal training at the DFC. Personal Training is defined by any of the following:
Anyone suspected of acting as a Personal Trainer by exhibiting any of the above behaviors will be questioned and informed of the DFC policies. Any individual acting as a Personal Trainer, as defined above, who is not employed by the DFC Personal Training Program will be asked to discontinue. If the individual fails to comply with this request, membership and guest privileges may be jeopardized.
This policy serves to eliminate conflict of interest with inhouse fitness programming, and for safety and liability purposes.
Leading an individual through a designed workout or assessment.
Providing formal one-on-one exercise instruction, assessments, and education.
Prescribing a fitness program for another individual.
Verbally or visually promoting a non-DFC personal training service.
Providing paid or free formal exercise guidance (including payment of guest fee).
Lateness and Cancellation Policies
You must provide a 24-hour notice for any cancellations to avoid being charged for that session.
Please be prompt for all sessions.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your session will be forfeited and considered “cancelled”. Trainers are not required to wait for clients who are more than 15 minutes late. Please call your trainer if you anticipate being late. Some trainers may be willing or able to wait more than 15 minutes if they know you are on your way.
Expiration Dates (2017-2018)
Lessons are offered on a tri-annual basis, to coincide with the Columbia University academic calendar. You must use your purchased sessions BEFORE the expiration date.
Summer Session – 30 May - 11 August
Fall Semester – 11 September - 11 December
Spring Semester – 22 January - 30 April
Refunds are not granted for non-medical reasons. Physician's note is required.
