DFC membership is required to utilize DFC trainers. Non-DFC trainers may not train clients at the DFC.
Our trainers will design individualized programs especially suited to meet your needs and provide you with a safe and challenging workout. Whether your goal is a well developed physique, better cardiovascular endurance, or improved overall health, we’ll be there to provide expert instruction, guide you through proper form and alignment, and of course, offer you the motivation and support you need.
Sessions take place at the Dodge Fitness Center in our tri-level fitness facility. For clients who’d like more privacy during a session, you’ll have access to our Personal Training Studio where you can utilize stability and medicine balls, suspension training equipment, free weights, resistance bands, and more!
Consider training with friends and save! Partner Training and Group Training with friends or collegues is not only fun and interactive, but also creates a space for added support, motivation and accountability.

Body Fat Caliper Test
$20/test (approximately 15 min)
A person's body fat percentage is the total weight of the person's fat divided by the person's weight. Knowing one's body fat percentage can be useful in tracking fat loss or simply satisfying one's curiosity. Your technitian will use Lange Calipers to estimate body fat by skinfold thickness measurement. The measurement is based on seven standard atomical sites around the body.

Using ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) guidelines for standardized testing, we'll measure your body composition, resting heart rate, blood pressure, aerobic endurance, flexibility, and muscular strength. At the end of the testing phase you'll get a chance to review your results compared to norms and have your trainer advise you on how to improve or maintain your fitness level.

REQUEST A TRAINER: A trainer will contact you within 48 hours of receiving your request. Once in touch with the trainer, please discuss your needs, goals, and schedule. Trainers manage their own schedules, therefore all scheduling is between the client and the trainer.
BUY SESSIONS ONLINE once you and your assigned trainer have confirmed a meeting time. You may also visit us between 9am and 5pm, M-F in room 336. Be sure to purchase the session before you meet with your trainer. Trainers are obligated to conduct a session before it has been purchased. Checks must be made out to Columbia University. Paying a trainer directly is PROHIBITED.
If you submit your request on a weekend or University holiday, please wait for the following business day for your request to be handled.
Partner and Group Training: EACH participant must submit their own separate registration form
Ensure your Dodge Physical Fitness Center membership status is current. Non-members are not eligible to participate in DFC training and may not solicit our trainers for non-DFC training.
Children of DFC members must be included on the family membership to be eligible for training. Please visit the Membership page for more information.

All sessions must be paid for in full prior to the start of training. Free trial sessions are not offered.

Outside trainers are NOT PERMITTED to conduct formal fitness instruction at the DFC. Only individuals currently employed by the DFC Personal Training Program may conduct personal training at the DFC. Personal Training is defined by any of the following:
Leading an individual through a designed workout or assessment.
Providing formal one-on-one exercise instruction, assessments, and education.
Prescribing a fitness program for another individual.
Verbally or visually promoting a non-DFC personal training service.
Providing paid or free formal exercise guidance (including payment of guest fee).
Anyone suspected of acting as a Personal Trainer by exhibiting any of the above behaviors will be questioned and informed of the DFC policies. Any individual acting as a Personal Trainer, as defined above, who is not employed by the DFC Personal Training Program will be asked to discontinue. If the individual fails to comply with this request, membership and guest privileges may be jeopardized.
This policy serves to eliminate conflict of interest with inhouse fitness programming, and for safety and liability purposes.
Lateness and Cancellation Policies
You must provide a 24-hour notice for any cancellations to avoid being charged for that session.
Out of respect for one another's time and in order for us to provide you with the best service possible, we ask that you be prompt for your session.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your session will be forfeited and considered “cancelled”. Trainers are not required to wait for clients who are more than 15 minutes late. Please call your trainer if you anticipate being late. Some trainers may be willing or able to wait more than 15 minutes if they know you are on your way.
You must use your purchased sessions BEFORE the expiration date.
Single Session – 14 days from date of purchase

Ahmed │Personal Trainer
In his 20 years in the health and fitness industry , Ahmed has developed a passion for helping others succeed in their wellness goals. He has a wide array of specialties and has experience working with individuals of all ages and abilities. Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education.
Brian│Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist
Brian Young is certified with National Academy of Sports Medicine and holds NASM specializations in Fitness Nutrition, Weight Loss, Corrective Exercise, and Anti-Gravity Yoga. Brian has over two years of experience in personal training. He has experience training individuals with pain in the lower back, shoulder, elbows, and ankles. Having herniated a disk, a torn meniscus in his right knee, and suffered trauma in his left ankle, Brian also has personal experience exercising with injuries. By using functional movements in an integrated approach with TRX suspension training cables, he can help regain range of motion and reduce pain. Even without pain, Brian can help you achieve your fitness goals (weight loss, muscle mass gains, injury prevention, stability strength) with multiple equipment (TRX, Kettlebell, Battle Ropes, Resistance Bands, Bosu Bolls). Brian received his BA in Film Studies at Yale University and is a current graduate student at the Columbia University School of the Arts pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing.
Cory│Martial Arts Trainer & Personal Trainer
Cory Robertson has been teaching and training in various martial arts for over 13 years. He earned 4 black belts and attained the title of Guru (Instructor) all before the age of 20, and is able to teach a myriad of styles and weaponry. At age 21, Cory joined the US Navy and served as Military Police, where he led group physical fitness sessions, and helped private clients reach their fitness goals. As a full instructor in Warrior’s Way International, he has taught thousands of private lessons and group classes, ranging from children to adults, as well as Women’s self-defense, law-enforcement, and military forces. He has recently earned the title of Apprentice Instructor under the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto, as well as an instructor certification in Pavel Tsatsouline’s StrongFirst™ Bodyweight-Strength training program. Cory is currently an undergraduate in Columbia’s GS program.
Darnley │Personal Trainer
Darnley Alleyne has over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry. He has competed in bodybuilding competitions and has had solid training in both Pilates and stability ball training. Darnley is currently teaching an advanced weight room orientation class at Barnard College. His passion is in teaching the inexperienced how to develop healthy lifestyle habits, and challenging the experienced with new and innovate training modalities!
Dory │Personal Trainer
Dory has been training for 5 years and during this span has trained in top clubs in many different areas in Manhattan. He has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology specializing in Fitness from Liberty University, and holds a Personal Training Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. While at Liberty, he interned under Bill Gillespie, one of most renowned Strength and Conditioning coaches in the Nation. Dory is a well versed trainer who has worked with collegiate athletes, the general population, and senior population. He specializes in Strength and Conditioning, Core and Balance, Weight lost, Body Fat reduction, Mass Building, and Toning. His goal is to maximize each session by making each one better than the previous!
Jasmine│Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist
Jasmine began studying Anatomy as a Biology and Chemistry Major at Saint Leo University. She volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard where she developed the discipline to train in physical fitness. Also, while studying Biological Sciences throughout her years in university, she studied to become a Fitness Model at John CasaBlanca's Modeling School previously located in Tampa, Florida. After graduating from the school, she received a certificate while learning the health and wellness requirements of being a Professional Model and Actor.
For the past year, Jasmine has studied and trained through the Personal Fitness Trainer Program at The Manhattan Institute in New York to become a Personal Fitness Trainer specializing in Nutrition and Corrective Exercise. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). As an intern to a women's only gym in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn she worked alongside senior trainers and instructors to gain experience. Once she completed the internship, she continued to study the active-isolated stretch method developed by Aaron Mattes' Stretch Method. Now, Jasmine can design programs of personal fitness for individuals of a variety of populations as well as provide nutritional recommendations and stretch practices.
Kricia │Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Sports Performance Enhancement
Kricia is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She received a Bachelor's of Science degree from DeVry College of Technology in Networking and Business Management. She holds NASM certifications in Corrective Exercise and Sports Performance Enhancement. She recently completed a Fitness Nutrition certification through NASM and is also a UXF group instructor. Kricia has a passion for fitness and wellness and looks forward to helping others achieve their physical goals. She has experience working with a wide variety of populations through many different fitness domains including weight loss, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, endurance training, functional programming, bodybuilding, metabolic conditioning, and movement screening assessments. Kricia has been active all her life and involved in team sports including softball and soccer. She currently enjoys high intensity workouts and strength training. After a workout, she likes to refuel with anything she can put peanut butter on.
Peter Pace is a current graduate student in the Nutrition and Exercise Physiology program here at Teachers College, Columbia. Before entering into the program, Peter was a graduate of Arizona State University (ASU) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. He has been a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) for over 2 years. His training career began at ASU where he trained a large diversity of students, faculty, and college affiliates. Through his education in nutrition, time training at ASU and other fitness facilities, Peter has developed a holistic approach to overall health that is unique to every individual. His training style is grounded in a philosophy of functional movement, nutrition, and sustainable lifestyle adaptations in order to facilitate his client’s quest to live a happier and healthier life!
Wanda Hughes, certified by the American Fitness Association of America, has over 10 years of experience as a fitness trainer, group class instructor and nutritional advisor. At the LA Weight Loss Center she tailored participant's nutritional plans to fit their lifestyles and optimize their progress. Wanda is currently working hands-on with men and women in different prestigious gym throughout the city. Wanda s' enthusiasm and energy is what makes her a great motivator. She currently is teaching Body Sculpt and Cardio class here on campus. Wanda's quest is to help her clients achieve their fitness goals. She is deeply committed to strength training and is always looking for ways to break barriers. Wanda believes a healthy lifestyle requires that the body and mind work together. She is currently completing her degree in kinesiology and nutrition.
Yacine │Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, USA Weightlifting & Speed and Explosion
Yacine is a Strength and Conditioning Coach who came to NYC in 2009. He was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Stade Français Paris Rugby for 2 years, responsible for the design, implementation and coaching of all varsity athletic programs. He has also been involved with the French Training Center, serving as a Strength and Conditioning Resident Intern from January until May of 2004 where he assisted the staff in developing and implementing programs for Olympic, Olympic hopefuls, and Paralympic individual athletes and national teams. A 2003 graduate of National Institute of Sport Expertise and Performance in Paris (France), he was a four-year starter and two-time captain with the soccer squad before earning a Bachelor's degree in Health Science with a concentration in Exercise Science. In addition, he was an intern for over a year at Fordham University Athletics & Columbia University Athletics where the main goal of the training was to better prepare the student-athletes for their respective sport, maximize overall athletic ability, improve mental focus and most of all, prevent injury. Additionally, Yacine serves as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the National French Rugby Team. He is also certified in USA Weightlifting & Speed and Explosion.
Mary│Pilates Trainer & Personal Trainer
An instructor of movement for over thirty years in colleges & professional dance studios in NYC, Texas & Chicago, including DNA, Ballet Chicago, Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, & Lou Conte/Hubbard Street Dance, Mary now works regularly with NYC’s wellness and dance community in injury prevention/rehabilitation. Mary is a faculty member of Peridance, Gibney, & Pilates Reforming NY, with the BA and MA from Columbia University in Dance and a Ph.D. in Dance Education from NYU’s School of Education. Mary holds the Pilates Method Association (PMA) certification and is a NASM-Certified Pesonal Trainer. Mary has been a Pilates addict herself for over thirty years! Her career is dual-fold; assisting both dancers and non-dancers in technique improvement to decrease rate of injury; and increase teacher knowledge in anatomy, kinesiology & movement analysis, for safer teaching from the start!
Caroline │Swim Trainer
Caroline Blum teaches swimming to children and adults at all levels. Currently she is the aquatic director of the Cubs Camp at Columbia University. She is a coach member of USA Swimming. Her certifications include CPR, AED, Lifeguard Management, Safety Training and First Aid. In addition to teaching swimming she is also an artist and exhibits her artwork in New York and California
Latanya has been swimming for 26 years. Half of those years she spent in competitive swimming the other half mastering her craft. She specializes in stroke and technique improvement, learn to swim, water safety instruction, hydrodynamics, Endurance and stamina training as well as triathlon preparation. She also has experience teaching children with disabilities.
Her work experience includes teaching at the Mc Burney YMCA, Sports club for Kids @ NYSC, Sea Horse Swim club in the lower East side, Cubs camp at Columbia and with the American Red cross.
Nabih was born and raised in Jordan and moved to the United States at the age of 18. His passion for swimming began at the age of four, and with the encouragement of his mother he joined his first club team when he was six. He would become a member of the Jordanian National Swim Team at the age of twelve, and was soon competing at the national and international level. For seven years Nabih competed as a backstroker, and would be ranked as high as second nationally, before switching to the distance events in his late teens. Nabih went on to compete in the 1500-meter freestyle at the Olympic Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia in 2008 and was the top-ranked Jordanian distance swimmer for years. Throughout his competitive career and after, Nabih taught his sport as well, to kids ranging from the age of one-year-olds to advanced swimmers, both in Jordan and the United States. Nabih graduated with a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Arkansas and earned his Master’s in Biomedical Science from Touro College. Nabih is currently pursuing his degree in medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
Darya Moosavi is a professional squash coach certified by ASF, with over 15 years of experience in playing and coaching squash at all ages and levels. She is currently a PhD student in Applied Physiology at Columbia University. Prior to joining Columbia University, Darya was the Squash Coordinator for StreetSquash, an urban squash program based in New York City, was responsible for coaching and training the Greens Farms Academy High School and Middle School Boys and Girls Squash teams, and was the Athletic Director and Squash Pro for Mission Squash. She created and implemented their first Squash as a Physical Education program for 200 students. In addition, Darya taught squash to juniors and adults at the Houston Downtown Club at the Met. Before immigrating to the US, Darya was the Head Pro at three different clubs. Darya grew up in Iran playing elite level junior squash. She received her Bachelors’ Degree in Physical Education and Sport Science and then completed her Masters degree in Sports Physiology, Sport Science.
Jui is a member of Columbia's Women's Varsity Squash team and is the only first-year to play every match for Columbia in 2016-17. She went 6-10 in her rookie season including 2-4 tally in Ivy League play and competed in the No. 3 position. She picked up the first collegiate victory over Drexel's Fiona Power and won Ivy League matches against Brown and Dartmouth.
