I'm a student, how do I know if I have a membership?

Morningside Campus students who pay University Services & Support, University Facility, Student Life (Morningside Campus), or College Fees in their term bill are automatically members of the Dodge Fitness Center (undergraduate students, Teacher's College, Barnard, some graduate students).

Please check your SSOL account to determine your membership status.  Please note: towel and locker service is not included with the student tuition fees. Please visit recreation.columbia.edu to purchase a locker.

If you have trouble with swipe access, please stop by the Membership Office or email [email protected].

My ID card does not provide me access to the DFC. What should I do?

Please email [email protected] or visit the Membership Office and talk to one of our membership representatives. Students might be asked to present a term bill to verify charges of University Services & Support, University Facility, Student Life or College Fees.

What do I need to use the Dodge Fitness Center?

The Dodge Fitness Center abides to all NYS and Columbia University regulations regarding safety during COVID-19.  A Dodge Fitness Center membership, Columbia University ID card, and a Green Pass are ALL required for successful entry.  At the moment memberships and lockers may be purchased online only via recreation.columbia.edu  Except while swimming in the pool, wearing a face covering is also required at all times while inside the Dodge Fitness Center.

Will everything be available?

All Top-Tri Level pods are closed for emergency maintenance.  Showers and towel and daily locker service are not available at the moment.  These shortcomings will be resolved in early September.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations will be necessary for certain machines and spaces.  Reservations will be made online via recreation.columbia.edu

What is expected of me as a member?

To follow all University protocols, safety guidelines, wear approved face coverings, clean and disinfect any and all equipment used personally before and after use and to adhere to physical distancing practices.

How do I rent an overnight locker?

You can rent an overnight locker by logging in to recreation.columbia.edu  Overnight lockers can be rented until December 23rd, 2021 with a possibility to renew for the spring semester.  Overnight lockers include the use of a daily locker and a towel service. 

That’s right!  When you purchase an overnight locker, you can get access to these three things: an overnight locker, a daily locker, and a towel service.  The following overnight lockers types are currently available:
-12 inch overnight located in the main locker room (4th floor) or the pool locker room (1st floor)
-30 inch overnight located in the main locker room
-60 inch overnight located in the main locker room
-60 inch Club locker located in a private locker room on the 4th floor.  Includes fluffy towel and laundry service.

(Please note towel and daily lockers are not currently available for use.  This will be resolved soon in early September)

When does my overnight locker expire?

Fall 2021 locker rentals expire on December 23rd 2021.  Please renew or empty your locker by this date.  Expired lockers will be emptied and contents will be stored only until the end of January 2022.  Abandoned items can be retrieved before this deadline in January for a $20 fee.

I purchased a locker. Where do I get a towel and a key to my daily locker?

Towels and daily locker keys may be borrowed at the Equipment Desk, located on the 4th floor (prior to the running track). Used towels should be placed in the bins outside of the locker rooms. Daily locker keys must be checked back into the equipment room at the end of your workout.  (Please note towel and daily lockers are not currently available for use.  This will be resolved soon in early September).

I am an American Language Program (ALP) student. How I can get a membership?

Please, visit recreation.columbia.edu or the Membership Office with your current Columbia University student ID card to pay the DFC Access Fee of $176. 

Can alumni join?

Alumni memberships are not currently available.  Please check our eligibility page for updates. 

Can my family members join?

Family memberships are not currently available. Please check our eligibility page for updates. 

Typically, eligible family members include spouse/domestic partner and children, ages 6 to 26. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the Tri-level fitness area and must be accompanied by an adult at all times throughout the building.  

To purchase a family membership 1) bring proof of marriage or common residence (marriage certificate, utility bill, personal check, driver's license, etc.) 2) primary member must have a membership; 3)  bring state issued ID cards; 4)  The Membership Office will issue a DFC CU ID card; 5) Sign the Release of Liability Form

I am a Columbia University Retiree. Are there discounts?

Retiree memberships are not currently available. Please check our eligibility page for updates.   Typically, Columbia University Retirees receive a 50% discount on their basic membership. The basic membership includes daily locker and a towel service. 

How do I bring a guest?

Guest passes are not available at the time.  

My insurance can reimburse me for fitness center memberships. Whom do I contact?

Please check with your health benefits adviser for reimbursement requirements. We will support you with a print-out of your visits and receipts. Please, always make sure to scan your ID card at the turnstile entrance. 

How can I save time and money at Dodge Fitness Center?

Mark your calendar with your locker rental end dates. To avoid retrieval fees, please renew or empty lockers on time.

Some health plans will issue a generous refund for fitness facility membership fees.

How can I pick up my belongings from my overnight locker that expired in Spring2020/Summer2020?

Arrangements may be made for spring and summer 2020 members to pick up their belongings.  Please email [email protected] to make arrangements.  We intend to keep your belongings until October 2021.
