Judo

Columbia University Judo Club is one of the oldest university Judo Clubs in the nation.  Judo, which translates to "the gentle way" is a martial art that developed in Japan in the late 1800's but has gained a worldwide following.  It was the first martial art to compete in the Olympics and today has one of the largest followings of any Olympic sport.  Judo focuses on the practice of throws and the use of holds and leverage to unbalance the opponent.  The goal of the Columbia Judo club is to foster a love for and educate students in the sport while engaging and preparing for collegiate competition.
