Coach Mueller's Lions Golf Camp

Have you ever wondered…
  • How a college golfer stays sharp at a cold-weather school in the off-season?
  • What a typical practice day looks like when there is snow on the ground?
  • What meaningful practice plans look like when using an indoor facility?

Attend Coach Mueller's Lions Golf Camp at Columbia University to find out!

This special one–day camp is designed for the junior golfers interested in playing on the collegiate level and considering cold-weather schools.  Campers will experience a day-in-the-life of a college golfer’s typical off-season practice using Columbia Golf’s newly renovated, state-of-the-art indoor facility.

Coach Mueller’s INDOOR Lions Golf Camp is unique because it teaches best practices when weather conditions are not ideal: specifically, how to be successful in college golf while using indoor and non-traditional facilities.

Instruction will prepare young men for college golf in colder climates by addressing how to best use indoor and non-traditional facilities. Students will receive individual putting instruction, personalized launch monitor data, shot dispersion data and general feedback from the coaching staff.

Player Improvement Discussions will revolve around Strokes Gained. Campers will also learn how to formulate their own practice plans to make indoor and non-traditional practice meaningful.

College Preparation will address the recruiting process including basic NCAA Rules, written correspondence, important dates, and deadlines for standardized testing. In addition to the “Finding the Right Program.”

Competition will help them assess strengths and weaknesses, students will participate in a series of skills challenges across all the facilities. Coaches will be interacting with players during the instruction and competition.

The Saint Andrew's Golf Club is America's oldest golf club (1888) and founding member of the USGA, Saint Andrew's is one of golf's venerated historical venues. Only 12 miles from Columbia University, the Membership and their guests enjoy the game in a spectacular setting and play one of the area's best-conditioned and exciting layouts - a challenging par-71 golf course, redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1983.

Stewardship of the traditions and history of the ancient and honorable game is a priority at Saint Andrew's. Members are proud to wear the Red Jacket and offer a spirited toast to the memory of John Reid, the founder of American golf, in the room that bears his name.

In addition to several other area facilities, The Saint Andrew's Golf Club is also home to the Columbia Lions Men's Golf team. The facility is meticulously manicured and offers a wonderful short game area as well as two smaller practice greens where golfers can hone their skills. The golf course is challenging but fair and requires precision shot-making to have a chance at breaking far.

Upon request, separate arrangements can be made to visit Columbia's campus prior to the start of camp or after it has concluded. Please contact Coach Mueller directly should you wish to visit.
