Welcome to the Columbia University Kon-Do Goju-Ryu Karate Club.
Founded 1985 – one of the oldest clubs on campus!
We practice real life self-defense, including various weapons through traditional goju karate form.

  •    No prior experience needed!
  •    Welcoming undergraduate and graduate students!
  •    Prior experience martial artists are welcome!
  •    We encourage everyone to compete with us, but not mandatory!

Columbia University Goju Karate Club produced many black belts and even Sensei’s over the years.
Today, we continue to welcome students, faculty, and alumni to join us in our dojo.
Each week, we train in karate forms, self-defense, and sparring.
Our members range from beginners to experienced martial artists, and everyone is able to find challenges here and progress at their respective levels.
Every November we compete in katas and sparring, in female and mail categories. Our students won many medals including 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in kata and sparring form.
